Every Image is Silence, Screaming
Photography has been a constant companion throughout Booth's life.
In my early teens, I lost myself for hours at a time in our home darkroom, despite the freezing temperature in the cellar of our Victorian house. I marvelled as each ghostly image appeared on paper, falling in love over and over again with the magic of watching photographs materialise, as if from nowhere.
From B&W film to early digital point-and-shoots and today’s ever-ready phone camera, images have filled the gaps where words failed her.
Booth combines her writing and photography to create a personal storyboard that blends conventional snapshots with contemporary art, a whole that is much greater than the sum of its parts.
The Photography page is under construction.
Below are a small collection of self-portraits and photo booth images from 1988 to the present.
